Django Girls

If you are a woman and want to learn how to make websites, we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!

It will take place on April 25, 2020 from 9am-6pm at Fusionbox, located at 2031 Curtis Street Denver, CO 80205.

We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women and people of diverse backgrounds into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become a programmer!

Workshops are free of charge. The deadline to apply is
April 7th, 2020!

If you are a woman, you know English, and have a laptop, you can apply! No previous technical knowledge is required, this workshop is for people who are new to programming.

As a workshop attendee you will:

  • attend one-day Django workshops during which you will create your first website
  • be fed by us - during workshops, food is provided

We only have space for 30 people, so make sure to fill out the form very carefully!

FAQ

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

I do not live in Colorado, can I attend?

Of course! Workshops will be in English, so if you're proficient in English - you should apply.


What will I learn?

Explore the Django Girls Tutorial we will use to create our projects.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It's also encouraged to bring a notebook for useful info.


What is Django?

Read the documentation for Django here. View the install instructions here.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.

Is food provided?

Yes. Thanks to Fusionbox and Splunk, snacks and lunch will be served during workshops. We are happy to account for dietary restrictions ahead of time, just let us know.
