Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will be using cloud9 for django development and/or have your assigned coach help you go through installing django and setting up your development environment.
Is food provided?
Yes. Thanks to our sponsors, snacks, lunch, drinks and cupcakes will be served during workshops.
If I get wait-listed, when will I know if I got accepted or not?
You will know if you got accepted by Wednesday on August 12th at 8pm EST, you will also be assigned a coach once you have a spot
Why is there an introduction to python and a workshop at the same time?
After discussing it with our organizers, we thought it would be best to teach python for beginners that haven't had exposure to programming while making sure the other participants that have experience with programming will be able to continue with the django girl's tutorial with the guidance from their assigned coach. Thus for this workshop, we will have two tracks - those that feel comfortable with python and those that have not had programming experience. We want to make sure we all help you succeed on this workshop. But after lunch, everyone will be working on django girl's tutorial with the guidance from their coach.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality. If you want to contribute to this event, please get in touch with one of our organizers: Jouella Fabe, Dev Mehta
