Django Girls

If you identify as a woman and want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you. We are hosting a one-day workshop for beginners!

Join us Friday and Saturday, July 20-21, 2018 at Central Library in Tulsa, OK.

We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us – women coders!

Workshops are free of charge. If you cannot afford coming to Tulsa but are motivated to learn and then share your knowledge with others, we may have some funds to help you out with your travel costs and accommodation. Don't wait too long – you can only apply for the workshop until July 5!

Apply for the workshop!

If you identify as a woman, know English and have a laptop, you can apply for our event! You don't need to know any technical stuff – our workshop is for people who are new to programming.

As a workshop attendee you will:

  • attend a one-day Django workshop during which you will create your first website
  • be fed by us: during our event, food is provided

We have space only for 39 attendees, so make sure to fill out the form carefully!

Applications open on June 1!

The application window closes on July 5. Applicants will be informed about acceptance or rejection by July 9.

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about coding. However, if you already know what HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or another backend language, you are still welcome to apply!

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your own computer with you. It is also important for us that you be able take home everything you write and create during workshops.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

It would be helpful to have Django installed before the Saturday workshop, but we will not expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches helps you out with this task. We are hosting an "Install-Fest" Friday evening before the workshop to help you install Django.

Is food provided?

Yes. Thanks to our sponsors, breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be served during workshops.

What does the schedule look like?

Friday night 5:30pm-7:30pm, we will host an optional "Install-fest" for attendees to get their laptops ready for the workshop. Saturday we will have breakfast served at 8:30am. We will start presentations at 9:00am and host a couple of talks throughout the day. Lunch will be served at 12:00pm.

Is there free parking?

Yes. Makre sure you bring your library parking ticket down to workshop and we will get you validated for free parking for the duration of the event.

Be a Mentor!

We would be delighted if you would like to join us as a mentor! Contact us if you're interested. ♥
