Would you like to learn about how to build websites, but don’t know where to start? We’re hosting a free workshop to teach 30 women how to build websites from scratch.
Django Girls Ra'anana will take place on May 3nd, 2020 at the Red Hat offices in Raanana (34 Jerusalem St., Building A, 1st Floor).
We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us – women programmers!
Workshops are free of charge and women from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. You'll work through the Django Girls tutorial (and build your own blog site) in small groups of three with a coach, so you'll be able to learn at your own pace.
We are trans-inclusive and encourage applications from all women.
Don't wait too long - you can apply for the workshop only until April 20th, 2020!
If you are a woman, know Hebrew or English and have a laptop, you can apply for our event! You don't need to know any technical stuff – our workshop is for people who are new to programming.
As a workshop attendee you will:
Participants receive free tickets to attend PyCon Israel, on May 4-5 Wahl center, Bar Ilan University, Max and Anna Web 11 Ramat Gan.
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task before the workshop.
Is PyCon Israel conference good for a total beginner?
As a workshop attendee you will get a free ticket to PyCon Israel - conference for Python programmers. Even though you are new to programming, conference is a good place to meet many interesting people in the industry and find inspiration. The conference ticket is personal and not transferable.
How will the workshop work?
We have a Friday night installfest to get your computer set up, it's online with your mentors. Then Sunday we'll build a project using Django, HTML & CSS. You'll work in small groups and we'll have plenty of tutors on hand to help if you get stuck.
Why are you doing this?
Because we want to get more women involved in technology.
Is food provided?
Yes. Thanks to RedHat, snacks and lunch will be served during workshops. Any allergies and food sensitivities please mark in the application form
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality. If you want to contribute and support our goal, please get in touch.
