If you are a girl in grades 9th thru college and want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you: we are holding a FREE one-day workshop for beginners!
It will take place on April 7, 2018 at Buck Spring Center in Warren County.
We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one; women programmers!
If you are a female in grades 9th - college, have a laptop or not, you can apply for our event! You don't need to know any technical stuff; our workshop is for people who are new to programming.
As a workshop attendee you will:
We have space only for 30 people, so make sure to fill out the form very carefully!
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
Why are you doing this?
We want to give young women a safe space to learn, ask questions and feel supported as they learn something new. There are so many new opportunities in this new digital age to those with these types of skills.
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes but not required. Our sponsor, ClassAide, will be supplying everyone with a computer to use for the day and a memory card to copy all your work. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task. Thanks to one of our sponsors, ClassAide, all of the computers we are supplying for the day will be preset and ready for use!
Is this workshop good for a total beginner?
Yes! Even though you are new to programming, a workshop is a good place to meet many interesting people and find inspiration. You will work in groups of 3 along with a coach. Each coach will work closely with you throughout the day at "YOUR PACE", so you don't have to worry about trying to keep up with the entire workshop.
Is food provided?
Yes. snacks and lunch will be served during the workshop.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality.
