Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
I don't live in Johannesburg, can I attend?
Of course! If you are able to make your own way to Johannesburg, you should most certainly apply!
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during the workshop.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before the workshop, but its not a pre-requisite, and we don't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.
Is Django Girls good for a total beginner?
Most definitely! Although you are new to programming, this workshop is a good place to meet other awesome women, find inspiration and chat to interesting women currently working in different aspects of technology - not just in coding!
Is food provided?
Yes, snacks and lunch will be served during workshops.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality. If you want to contribute and support our goal, please get in touch.
The mission of the Python Software Foundation is to promote, protect, and advance the Python programming language, and to support and facilitate the growth of a diverse and international community of Python programmers. The majority of the PSF's work is focused on empowering and supporting people within the Python community. The PSF has active grant programs that support sprints, conferences, meet ups, user groups, and Python development efforts all over the world. In addition, the PSF underwrites and runs PyCon US, the primary Python community conference. Being part of the PSF means being part of the Python community. Recently we changed the PSF to an open membership organization, so that everyone who uses and supports Python can join.
