Django Girls Portland, Maine

If you are a woman, and you are curious about learning to code, then we have good news for you! We are holding a one-day workshop for beginners! The workshop is free of charge, and women of all ages (14+) are encouraged to apply. Participants will learn about programming, web development, Python, and Django, and have the opportunity to make meaningful connections with friends and mentors who build software for a living.

Note that we use an inclusive definition of “woman”, and we welcome everyone, including, but not limited to, trans women and non-binary people.

It will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at CashStar in Portland, Maine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No. Workshops are for beginners, no prior knowledge needed.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. Please bring your computer with you. Having your own computer there will allow you to take everything you write and create during the workshop home with you. Let us know, however, if this will be an issue and we can work together to get a loaner.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

No. It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but our coaches will be there to help you finish getting set up once the workshop starts.

Is food provided?

Yes. Thanks to our sponsors, snacks and lunch will be served during workshops.
