Django Girls

Would you like to learn about building websites but don’t know where to start? Learning how to code can seem like an impossible task so we’ve decided to put on a workshop to show 25 beginners how it can be done and get them excited about the world of technology!

Join us on 6th and 7th March 2020 at the Pendo office in Sheffield for a workshop where you'll learn about programming, meet other motivated women and ultimately build your own website.

Django Girls Sheffield is a crash course that is aimed at total beginners. You don’t need to know anything about programming, just bring your own laptop and come down on the evening of Friday 6th March and all-day Saturday 7th March. Having a sufficient understanding of English is good so you’re able to follow our English tutorial.

The workshop is free of charge! Food and snacks will also be provided.

Venue

Django Girls Sheffield workshop will take place at the Pendo Sheffield office.

Pendo combines powerful product usage analytics with user guidance, communication, feedback, and planning tools to offer the most complete integrated platform for digital product teams. With Pendo, product teams can understand product usage, collect feedback, measure sentiment, onboard users, and announce new features in app—all without requiring engineering resources. We're very happy to get the chance to use their office space for our workshop.

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! This workshop is for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about programming. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

I do not live in Sheffield, can I still attend?

Of course! If you can get yourself to Sheffield, you should apply.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer (and a charger) with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during the workshop.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

We will install everything together at the installation party on the Friday evening before the workshop.

Is food provided?

Yes. Thanks to our sponsors, snacks and lunch will be served during the workshop.
