Would you like to learn about how to build websites, but don’t know where to start? We’re hosting a free workshop to teach 40 women how to build websites from scratch.
Join us on July 17 and 18 in Portland, OR for a workshop where you'll learn about programming, meet other motivated women, and ultimately build your own website.
This workshop is aimed at total beginners. You don't need to know anything about programming to participate. You just need to bring your own laptop on the evening of Friday the 17th and all day Saturday the 18th, and have a sufficient understanding of English to follow our English-language tutorial.
You'll work through a tutorial in small groups of three with a coach, so you'll be able to learn at your own pace.
We are trans-inclusive and encourage applications from all women.

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you should still apply!
I am not living in Portland, can I attend?
Of course! At this time we are not able to offer travel scholarships, however.
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes, we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is important for us that you be able to take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
We'll host a free install-a-thon on Friday the 17th to help you install what you need.
Is food provided?
Yes. Thanks to our generous sponsors, snacks and lunch will be served during the workshop and the install-a-thon.
How do I get to Treehouse?
You can reach Treehouse by a bus that stops a block away the building. Almost all buses in Portland have a low step entry and are suitable for wheelchairs without requiring advance notification.
Is the venue accessible?
Treehouse has complete step free access. All doorways are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs and the building only has one level. All toilets are gender-neutral, have doorways that can accommodate wheelchairs, and one has hand rails (toilets and sinks are not lowered, however). We welcome your service animal.
Can I participate if I have low vision or am hard of hearing?
While we do not have any special facilities for attendees who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or have low vision, our coaches will use text-based communication if it will help you.
Will there be a quiet room available?
Yes, there will be a quiet room available that can also be used as a lactation room.
Will there be child care?
Yes! We have free on-site child care for a limited number of children. Our nanny is a local nursing student with years of experience who has fun activities planned for kids of all ages. See our childcare site for information about what to expect.
