Django Girls London

Would you like to learn about how to build websites, but don’t know where to start? Learning how to code can seem like an impossible task so we’ve decided to put on a workshop to show 36 programming-beginners how it can be done, and get them excited about the world of technology.

Join us on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April 2016 for a free two-day workshop in central London, where we’ll be giving attendees the chance to learn about programming and to ultimately build their own website.

Django Girls London is a crash course that is aimed at complete beginners. You don’t need to know anything about programming, we just expect you to bring your own laptop, to be able to commit the evening of Friday 22nd April and all-day Saturday 23rd April and to have a sufficient understanding of English so you’re able to follow our English tutorial.

You will work through the tutorial in a small group of three attendees and one coach so you’ll be able to do it at your own pace.

Apply

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you can still apply!

I'm not living in London, can I attend?

Of course! If you can get yourself to London, you should apply.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It's also important to us that you take home everything you’ve written and created during the workshops.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

We will install everything together at the installation party on the Friday evening before the workshop.

Is food provided?

Yes. Thanks to our amazing sponsors, breakfast, snacks and lunch will be served during the workshops.

Why are you doing this?

Because we're female programmers ourselves in an industry dominated by men, so we want to see more women getting involved with technology.

Venue

Django Girls London workshop will take place in Fitzrovia and will be hosted by Potato on 97 Tottenham Court Rd in London.

Potato specialises in the development of web applications - often built using Python and Django. They take pride in providing a rewarding and enjoyable place to work in, fostering a perfect environment for producing the best code.

It's that attitude that made us believe that this is the right place for this event.
