Django Girls

Are you are a Female and want to learn how to make websites? We live in a world that technology keeps growing rapidly and transforms many people lives. We use it every day, but not all of us know how to shift from consuming technology to producing it. If you are a woman and are interested in diving into the world of the internet with us, we have good news for you: we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!

This workshop is aimed at total beginners. You don't need to know anything about programming to participate. You just need to bring your own wifi-enabled laptop on Friday evening the 10th of November, 2017 and all day Saturday 11th, November, 2017 and have a sufficient understanding of English to follow our English-language tutorial. It will take place at Linda Dor Plaza in Koforidua.

We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us – women programmers!

Workshops are free of charge and if you cannot afford coming to Koforidua but are very motivated to learn and then share your knowledge with others, we may have some funds to help you out with your travel costs and accommodation.

You'll work through a tutorial in small groups of three with a coach, so you'll be able to learn at your own pace.

Apply for the workshop!

As a workshop attendee you will:

  • attend a one-day Django workshop during which you will create your first website
  • be fed by us: during our event, food is provided

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

I am not living in Koforidua, can I attend?

Yes, you can! We welcome people from all over. Do go ahead to register if you are really interested, then shoot us a mail at [email protected] explaining your circumstances and we will see what we can do.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

It would be helpful to have Django, Git and Python installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.

Is Django Girls Koforidua good for a total beginner?

Absolutely! The workshop is designed for beginners who are interested in technology and want to learn how to code, Even though you are new to programming, The workshop is a good place to meet many interesting people in the industry and find inspiration.

Is food provided?

Yes!! Thanks to our fantastic Sponsors, snacks and lunch will be served during the workshop. We would ensure that we can provide you with food and drinks.
