Django Girls

If you identify as a woman and want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you: we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!

It will take place on Saturday October 6th, 2018 at MidTown Tech Hive in Cleveland.

We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us – women programmers!

Workshops are free of charge and if you cannot afford coming to Cleveland but are very motivated to learn and then share your knowledge with others, we may have some funds to help you out with your travel costs and accommodation. Don't wait too long: you can apply for the workshop only until September 15th!

Apply for the workshop!

If you know English and have a laptop, you can apply for our event! You don't need to know any technical stuff – our workshop is for people who are new to programming. We are trans-inclusive and encourage applications from all women and non-binary people.

As a workshop attendee you will:

  • attend a one-day Django workshop during which you will create your first website
  • be fed by us: during our event, food is provided

We have space only for 30 people, so make sure to fill out the form very carefully!

Applications are closed but you can still apply for our waitlist. Keep an eye on your email as some people cancel the day before events!

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. This is also important so that you can take home everything you’ll write and create during the workshop.

Is food provided?

Yes. We will provide lunch and snacks - details TBD. If you have dietary restrictions please note those on the application form. These will not factor into your acceptance, and will help us provide food options for all participants.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

We will install all necesssary software at the InstallFest on October 5th, the Friday evening before the workshop.

Will there be childcare?

We are working on it! If you know of a company who would be willing to sponsor childcare for this event, please let us know.

I'm under 18 - can I still attend?

Yes, if you are in high school and a parent or guardian attends with you.
