Django Girls

Would you like to learn about how to build websites, but don’t know where to start? Learning how to code can seem like an impossible task so we’ve decided to put on a workshop to show female programming-beginners how it can be done, and get them excited about the world of technology.

Join us on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd July 2016 for a free two-day workshop at River City Labs in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia where we'll be giving attendees the chance to learn about programming and to ultimately build their own website.

Django Girls Brisbane is a crash course that is aimed at complete beginners. You don’t need to know anything about programming, we just expect you to bring your own laptop, to be able to commit the evening of Friday 1st July and all-day Saturday 2nd July and to have a sufficient understanding of English so you’re able to follow our English tutorial.

We believe that the IT industry and society as a whole will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. After all, the more women who can code, the more we are able to create technology that will suit our needs. More women in technology means that technology can more accurately reflect what we want out of it. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become a programmer!

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

I am not living in Brisbane, can I attend?

Of course! Workshops will be in English, so if you have no troubles with speaking and understanding English - you should apply. However you will need to make your own way to Brisbane to attend.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own.We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.

Is food provided?

Yes. Thanks to our sponsors, snacks and lunch will be served during workshops.

Be a Mentor!

We would be delighted if you would like to join us as a mentor! Fill in the form here, but select the option to be a mentor.
