Django Girls Belfast

We want women to experience what it is like to code and work with technology. Our goal is to create a safe environment where women can explore technology.

We are trans-inclusive and welcome all women from all walks of life to enjoy bi-weekly Saturday morning workshops. Men are welcome to attend as well. We don't want men out of the IT industry, we just want more women in it.

Workshops are free of charge!

If you are female and between the ages of 14-100 you can apply for a pass! You don’t need to know any technical stuff - workshops are for people who are new to programming.

Since this is on a Saturday morning, we realise that there can be childcare issues, so please talk to us if you've any concerns and we are going to try to help out where possible.

What are the dates for Django Girls Oct/Nov 2016?

1, 15, 20 Oct and 12, 26 Nov and 10 December

What is Django?

Django is a coding tool that allows you to build web sites using the Python programming language.

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

Should I bring my own laptop?

If you have your own laptop, then please bring it so that you can take home everything you've written and practise some more! If you don't have access to a laptop, the Belfast Met will be able to supply a computer for you to work on.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. Our coaches can help you when you arrive.

Is there going to be an exam or test?

No! Our aim is to introduce you to the world of programming and technology in an environment where you'll feel safe to learn and explore at your own pace.

Are Django Girls workshops only for females?

No! All genders can apply. We don't want to get men out of programming; we just want to bring more women in.

Be a Coach aka Mentor!

We would be delighted if you would like to join us as a coach! Coach submissions are open. Click here to become a Django Girls coach

We will contact you, but if you'd like to know what is happening with your submission, you can contact us on [email protected] :)
