Would you like to learn about how to build websites, but don’t know where to start? Learning how to code can seem like an impossible task so we’ve decided to put on a workshop to show 30 programming beginners how it can be done and get them excited about the world of technology.
Join us on Thursday 15th September 2016 for a free one-day workshop in Cardiff, where we’ll be giving attendees the chance to learn about programming and to ultimately build their own website. The workshop takes place at the start PyCon UK, a big conference for programmers which gathers a lot of talented people from all over the world.
Django Girls is a crash course that is aimed at total beginners. You don’t need to know anything about programming, we just expect you to bring your own laptop, to be able to commit to the all-day workshop on Thursday 15th September and to have a sufficient understanding of English so you’re able to follow our English tutorial. You will work through the tutorial in a small group of three attendees and one coach so you’ll be able to do it at your own pace. If you’d like to join us, please apply below.
The workshop is free of charge and is part of PyCon UK's Introduction Day. We are happy to be able to offer a free conference ticket to all workshop attendees and we encourage you to make the most of this - it's a fun few days in a wonderful city and you will have the chance to take your programming skills further and be a part of the Python community!

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
I do not live in Cardiff, can I attend?
Of course! If you can get yourself to Cardiff, you should apply.
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you take home everything you write and create during workshops.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
We will send you instructions for getting your laptop set up before the workshop. If there are any problems with this we can help you at the start of the workshop.
Is the PyCon UK conference good for a total beginner?
Even though you are new to programming, a conference is a good place to meet many interesting people in the industry and find inspiration. There will be talks and workshops at all levels and there will be guidance available to help find sessions to suit you. You'll get the chance to be part of a wonderful, welcoming and friendly community!
Is food provided?
Yes. Meals, snacks and refreshments will be served on the workshop day and throughout the conference.
