If you are a person from a marginalized gender (not just women) and want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you: we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!
It will take place on Saturday, October 11th 2025 in Philadelphia, PA.
We believe the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more marginalized people into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and create a safe entryway into the world of programming!
Workshops are free of charge and will be held in Center City, Philadelphia (details will be shared upon acceptance)! Don't wait too long: you can apply for the workshop only until Sunday, September 28th 2025!
If you are of a marginalized gender, know English and have a laptop (optional), you can apply for our event! You don't need to know any technical stuff – our workshop is for people who are new to programming.

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming? No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
I am not living in Philadelphia, can I attend? This event will be held in person, so if you are willing to travel to Philadelphia we would love to have you!
Is food going to be provided? Yes! We will serve breakfast, lunch, and many snacks :)
What is the purpose of this workshop? The inspiration for this collaboration with Django Girls+ came from a need for more intentional, inclusive tech spaces for individuals who do not identify as cis men, as the nature of the tech industry is largely male-dominated. At Launchpad Philly, we strive to create empowering spaces where youth can see themselves in tech and grow with others that share marginalized identities and experiences!
Should I bring my own laptop? Yes, if you would like to be able to expand your blog/website after the workshop, otherwise we will provide Chromebooks to use during this workshop. If you have concerns you have concerns about the sufficiency of your device, please feel free to reach out
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop? If you are using your own device and it is not a Chromebook, it will be helpful to have Python and Django installed before the workshop, but you will not be expected to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task :)
