Django Girls

Have you ever thought of building a website, but don’t know where to start?

We have good news for you: we’re hosting a free workshop on 4th August 2023 to teach females and minority applicants how to build websites from scratch.

This workshop is aimed at beginners. You don't need to have coded before, all you need is to be super excited to learn! πŸš€

Although it doesn’t hurt if you’ve already tried some HTML or Python.

How will it work?

You'll learn from a coach and through a tutorial in small groups, so you'll be able to learn at your own pace. We’re not gonna lie: a Django Girls workshop doesn’t make anyone a programmer. You’ll have to work hard and sometimes even struggle to become one, but we want to show you it’s possible, no matter how old you are, what you’ve studied before, how good you’re at math or what others tell you. You just need to be determined and interested in programming.

During Django workshop you will create your first website πŸ’ͺ

What are the prequistites?

You will need a laptop, high speed Internet connectivity to join a meeting for 8 hours and have a sufficient understanding of basic computer.

Apply

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

How will the workshop work?

We have a Thursday evening installfest online to get your computer set up. Then Friday we'll build a project using Django, HTML & CSS. You'll work in small groups and we'll have plenty of tutors on hand to help if you get stuck.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll create during the workshop.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

No! We'll be having a Thursday evening installfest with coaches on hand to help.

Is Django Girls for women only?

All genders are welcome to apply at Django Girls events. However, women and minority applicants will be given a preference.

Is food provided?
