Django Girls

If you are a female and you want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you: we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!

It will take place on 16th of May 2015 in the Prezi Workshop Area.

We believe that the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us - female programmers!

Workshops are free of charge and there's no age limit. It is a great opportunity to begin to program in a friendly environment.

Apply for a pass!

If you are a woman, speak English, are in or around Budapest and have a laptop - you can apply for a pass! You don’t need to know any technical stuff - workshops are for people who are new to programming.

As a workshop attendee you will receive free training to learn to build websites. You'll be able to meet other women and make connections to continue your progression creating your ideas on the internet!

Don’t wait too long - you can apply for a pass only until the end of April!

We have space only for a limited number of applicants, so make sure to fill the form very carefully!

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

What's the language of the workshop?

We believe that the primary language of programming is English, so it's best to learn it in English from the start. The tutorial is in English too, but we'll have a few Hungarian-speaking coaches as well as English-speaking ones. If you'd feel more comfortable working with a Hungarian coach but you're able to read the tutorial, we encourage you to apply! You don't have to understand the technical terms yet, the coaches are there to explain them :)

I am not living in Budapest, can I attend?

Of course! The workshop is open to anyone who can come to Budapest on May 16th.

What is the format of the workshop? What if I have trouble keeping up?

You will work in a small group of just 3 attendees. A coach will be assigned to each group, and your coach will work closely with you throughout the day to help with any problems that you may have. You will work at your own pace, assisted by your coach, so you don't need to worry about keeping up with the entire workshop.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.

Am I too young/old to apply?

No! We have no upper or lower age limit for the workshop. We feel that women of any age can be highly motivated to learn and succeed in this field. All applications will be considered according to criteria similar to those described here.

Is food provided?

Yes, snacks and lunch will be served during workshops.

Be a Coach!

We would be delighted if you would like to join us as a coach!

Applications are closed for the May workshop. If you'd like to help us as a coach in the future, drop us a line! [email protected]
