Have you ever felt like the world of technology is changing too fast and you can't keep up? Yeah, we've all been there. If you are a woman and you want to learn how to build your first web application using HTML, CSS, Python and Django, we have good news for you: Django Girls Warsaw workshop is back for the #5 edition and it's for beginners!

Join us on 27-28th of May 2017 in the heart of Warsaw!

You don't need to know anything about programming: we only expect you to have your own laptop with wifi and admin privileges. Workshop will be held in Polish and you will work on your own pace in a small group of four: 3 attendees and 1 coach.

This year workshops will take place almost in the clouds - on 40th floor of Warsaw Spire - thanks to Daftcode hospitality!

Address: Plac Europejski 1

After entering the building, look for Django Girls registration stand and we will guide you to the 40th floor.

Applications are closed.

Django Girls in Warsaw is a free-of-charge workshop. We are very excited to create that opportunity. However, there are only 45 spots available, that is why we cannot accept all the applicants. Here you can find a blog post on how we score applications.

Remember that everyone can apply! You only need a laptop with wifi (and admin rights), a little bit of curiosity and a smile! The workshop will be held in Polish. Also - thanks to our lovely contributors ♥ - we have the Polish translation of our tutorial ready for you!

Applications for Django Girls Waw #5 workshop are now closed.

FAQ

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Our workshop is for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer (with wifi) with you. It's also important for us that you take home everything you’ll write and create during the workshop.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

We will install everything together during the installation party on Saturday, before the workshop. Please remember that since it may be necessary to install software on you computer you need to have the admin rights on it. In case you have any questions regarding this issue - drop us a line. We're happy to help!

Why is it crucial to attend the installation party the day before workshop?

It's super important to us that you have a chance to participate in the workshop to the max, learn as much as possible and don't stress about unnecessary problems. In order to avoid them we would want you to join us during the installation party! You'll have a chance not only to get all the required software ready for the workshop but also meet your coach and your group members while drinking some nice cider or lemonade and having some snacks! It will make you feel relaxed and prepared for your first adventure with programming! Trust us!

Is there a Django Girls for men?

There doesn't seem to be a need for Django Boys at the moment. But all of our content, including our tutorial and our resources, is open sourced, so if you'd like to start a workshop aimed at another audience, we encourage you to do so! We support you starting an organization that reaches an audience you care about. All the resources we've created, including the tutorial, are open sourced under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4). This means that you can modify, distribute and use commercially, but you cannot sublicense and you have to give us credit and include copyright.

I don't live in Poland / I don't speak Polish, can I still attend?

Of course! It's possible for us to organize English-speaking groups - so if you have no troubles with understanding and speaking English - you are welcome to apply!

Is food provided?

Yes, thanks to our amazing sponsors, we are able to provide meals and snacks. The exact meal times will be announced before workshop, along with the schedule.

Why are you doing this?

Because we're female programmers ourselves in the industry dominated by men, so we want to see more women getting involved into technology! We want to inspire women to fall in love with programming! ♥

Coaches

During the workshops you will work in small groups of 3 women. Each group will be tutored by one coach — experienced members of Django community who will volunteer their time, knowledge and energy for Django Girls.
