Why give to the Django Girls Foundation?

Our mission:

Django Girls is a volunteer-run registered charity. We use your generous donations to teach thousands of women to build websites using Python and Django by providing resources and tools volunteer organizers all over the world.

Since July 2014, our workshops have reached women in countries and our online tutorial has been read by more than 3,958,285 people.

Our focus and mission for this year is in improving diversity and inclusion in Django Girls, ensuring our workshops are accessible to all, specifically including those from marginalised groups.

We're transparent about our finances. See our Annual Report for 2016-2017 to see how we spend donations and what impact they made.

Staff Costs

Since the first Django Girls workshop in July 2014, we grew unexpectedly fast and we could not sustain thatgrowth without some help.

In 2015, we introduced a part-time paid position of Awesomeness Ambassador to help provide support to hundreds of volunteers all over the world.

In 2017, we also introduced the part-time paid position of Fundraising Coordinator to help us raise funds to run our activities. In 2023, we introduced the part-time paid position of Communications Officer to help us increase outreach following the pandemic and increase the number of workshops. We also introduced the Chief Emoji Officer (Managing Director) role, increasing the number of our paid staff to 4.

Django Girls Bootcamp:

Our upcoming initiative, a 12 to 16-week coding bootcamp, is an ambitious extension of this mission. This program, tailored specifically for women, is designed to provide comprehensive training in web development; covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and Django. In addition to technical skills, the bootcamp will focus on professional development, allowing participants to work on personal and open-source projects.

Our vision is to create an inclusive, supportive environment that teaches coding and empowers women to transition into their first programming roles. By sponsoring this project, you're not just funding a bootcamp; you are investing in the future of technology, making it more diverse, inclusive, and innovative.
