If you are female / non-binary and you want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you! We are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!

It will take place on Saturday 20th September 2025, at PyCon UK 2025 at CONTACT in Manchester.

We believe that IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us - female programmers!

Applications will open in mid-June, so watch this space!

Workshops are free of charge, and you will also get a free ticket to PyCon UK. If you can’t afford to come to Manchester, but you are very motivated to learn and then share your knowledge with others, we may have some funds to help you out with your travel costs. You will be able to apply for these funds on your application form.

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! The workshops is for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML and CSS are) you still can apply!

What is PyCon UK and how is it related to the workshop?

PyCon UK is a conference for programmers, at which there will be talks about Python, a programming language. On 20th September, one of the workshops held at the conference will be the Django Girls workshop where attendees will be learning to build their own website using Python (and Django).

The PyCon UK conference is from 19th September to 22nd September. As a Django Girls workshop attendee, you will get a free ticket to the full conference, which allows you to go to the talks on the other days if they interest you. You're of course welcome to only join for the workshop on the 20th though!

How can I apply?

Applications will open in mid-June. Watch this space!

am not living in Manchester, can I attend?

Of course! If you need financial aid to get to Manchester or you need assistance with getting to Manchester - indicate so on your application form. We are willing to help you!

am not living in the UK, can I attend?

Yes - remember to check the UK Home Office guidelines and ensure you have all the required documentation to enter the UK. Note that if you require financial assistance, there is a possibility that the funds we offer might not cover the full travel costs for your journey to Manchester.

I am under 18, can I attend?

Yes! However, please do note that anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an identifiable adult. If your application is successful, we will confirm the details of the accompanying adult with you.

This adult has responsibility for the minor at all times and must be in attendance whenever the minor is, and contactable by the organisers.

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during the workshop.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

It would be helpful to have Django installed before the workshop, but we wouldn't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.

How long is the workshop?

We are organising a full-day workshop. You'll be arriving in the morning, and leaving the workshop in time to grab some dinner.

Is food provided?

Yes! Lunch is provided at PyCon. There will also be snacks during the workshop.

I still have questions!
