Django Girls

Django Girls is a community, created in Berlin in 2014, founded by women developers with the support of the entire Django community. There are lots of different Django Girls workshops around the world, all run by the effort of wonderful volunteers.🧡

But what is Django?

Django is a technology developed with the Python programming language. It allows you to create a web site based on a predefined structure. You will write code on it and will start to become familiar with programming. In technical words, Django is an open source framework and during the workshop you will use it to create your own blog.

Django Girls Workshop

Would you like to learn how to build sites but don't know how to start? Do you already know how but want to learn different programming languages? We organize a free workshops to teach women, how to build a site with Django and Python starting from the basics.

Join us on 18th July in Kraków. You'll learn more about programming, meet other motivated women like you, and you'll build your own site!

This workshop is aimed at beginners and up, and if this is your first time, you don't need to know anything about programming. In order to participate you just have to bring your computer.

Workshops are free and women from any background are invited to participate. You will not be left alone, but assigned to a small group and coordinated by a coach, so as to learn according to your pace.

What we'll do:

The workshop is aimed at both beginners and those who already develop but want to expand their horizons.

As a participant:

• You will participate in the Django Girls workshop for one day (with installation of the tools a few days before) during which you will create your first blog with Django;
• You'll meet people in the industry and learn more about programming;
• You will assist the operations of people who will bring their experience in the programming and the technological sector foreseen during the workshop;
• You will have lunch with us: we will serve all meals during the workshop!

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?

No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!

Will the workshop be held in English or in Polish?

The workshop will be in English, but don't worry if your English isn't perfect, we're not native speakers either!

Should I bring my own laptop?

Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.

Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?

You can do install everything you need for the workshop by your own. 

Here is the instruction to install, follow them based on your Operation System (Mac, Windows, Linux or Chromebook)
Our coaches can also help you thorough the process during the workshop. 

Is Django Girls for women only?

No! All genders can apply. Our mission is to bring more diverse community into programming.

What is EuroPython?

EuroPython is the oldest and longest running volunteer-led Python programming conference. Join us in July in the beautiful and vibrant city of Kraków. We'll be together to celebrate our shared passion for Python and its community.

I am not attending EuroPython, can I attend the workshop?

Yes! 

If you will be accepted you will receive your badge to attend the workshop even if you're not attending EuroPython

Is food provided?
