Would you like to know how to build websites, how the internet works and you would like to try programming your own first blog, but don’t know where to start? We have good news for you: we are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!
Django Girls Darmstadt is part of Django Girls, a worldwide volunteer driven initiative that is aiming to introduce women who have never coded before to the world of technology and increase diversity. We believe that technology is for people and everyone should be able to build it. That is why we want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program and become one of us – women programmers!
During the workshop, you will work through a tutorial in a small group of attendees and one coach. Our coaches are experienced software developers who contribute their time, knowledge, and energy to you and Django Girls.
The workshop takes place on Tuesday, 22 April 2025 at PyConDE in Darmstadt.

Django Girls Darmstadt ist Teil der weltweiten, non-profit Initiative Django Girls. Wir glauben, dass wir alle stark davon profitieren, wenn sich mehr Frauen für Technologie begeistern. Wir bieten dir die Möglichkeit, in einer angenehmen Atmosphäre erste Erfahrungen mit Programmierung zu sammeln und eine von uns zu werden - eine Programmiererin!
Während des Workshops arbeitest du in kleinen Gruppen. Jede Gruppe wird von einem Coach begleitet. Die Coaches sind erfahrene Software-Entwicklerinnen oder Entwickler, die ehrenamtlich ihre Zeit, ihr Wissen und ihre Energie für Dich und Django Girls zur Verfügung stellen.
Der Workshop findet am Dienstag, 22 April 2025 @ PyConDE im Darmstadt statt.

Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important for us that you will take home everything you’ll write and create during workshops.
I am not living in Germany, can I attend?
Of course! Workshops will be in English and German, so if you have no troubles with speaking and understanding English or German - you should apply!
Who can apply?
Django Girls is dedicated to providing a harassment-free workshop experience for everyone, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. Every participant needs to follow the Code of Conduct.
Muss ich irgendetwas über Webseiten oder Coding wissen?
Nein! Unsere Workshops sind für Anfänger. Du brauchst überhaupt kein Vorwissen. Wenn du schon ein paar Erfahrungen hast (z.B. weißt du, was HTML oder CSS ist), dann kannst du dich trotzdem bewerben!
Soll ich meinen eigenen Laptop mitbringen?
Ja. Wir stellen keine Hardware zur Verfügung, daher ist es notwendig, dass du deinen Computer mitbringst. Außerdem ist es wichtig für uns, dass du alles, was du während des Workshops schreibst und erarbeitest, mit nach Hause nehmen kannst.
Ich lebe nicht in Deutschland, kann ich trotzdem teilnehmen?
Natürlich! Die Workshops werden auf Englisch oder Deutsch durchgeführt. Wenn du also keine Probleme hast, Deutsch oder Englisch zu sprechen und zu verstehen, dann kannst du dich bewerben!
Wer kann teilnehmen?
Django Girls engagiert sich für ein aggressionsfreies und tolerantes Workshopklima für alle Teilnehmenden unabhängig des Alters, des Geschlechts, der sexuellen Orienterung, Einschränkungen, physischer Erscheinung, Körpergröße, Herkunft oder Religion. Alle Teilnehmenden müssen sich an den Code of Conduct halten.
