If you are female and you want to learn how to make websites, we have good news for you! We are holding a one-day workshop for beginners!
It will take place on September 17, 2017 in Den Haag. Our goal is to introduce women to the wonderful world of programming.
We believe that the IT industry will greatly benefit from bringing more women into the world of technology. We want to give you an opportunity to learn how to program!
Workshops are free of charge.
If you are a woman, you speak English and have a laptop - you can apply for a pass! You don’t need to know any technical stuff - the workshop is for people who are new to programming.
Do I need to know anything about websites or programming?
No! Workshops are for beginners. You don’t need to know anything about it. However, if you have a little bit of technical knowledge (i.e. you know what HTML or CSS are) you still can apply!
I don't live in Den Haag, can I attend?
Of course! While the workshop will take place in Den Haag, applications are open to anyone who is able to come to Den Haag on September 17. The workshop will be in English, so if you have no trouble speaking and understanding English - you should apply.
What is the format of the workshop? What if I have trouble keeping up?
You will work in a small group of 3 attendees. A coach will be assigned to each group, and your coach will work closely with you throughout the day to help with any problems that you may encounter. You will work at your own pace, assisted by your coach, so you don't need to worry about keeping up with the entire workshop.
Do I need to have something installed on my laptop?
It would be helpful to have Django installed before workshops, but we don't expect you to install anything on your own. We will make sure that one of our coaches will help you out with this task.
Am I too young/old to apply?
No! We have no upper or lower age limit for the workshop. We feel that women of any age can be highly motivated to learn and succeed in this field. All applications will be considered according to criteria similar to those described here.
Should I bring my own laptop?
Yes. We have no hardware, so we expect you to bring your computer with you. It is also important to us that you will be able to take home with you everything you’ll write and create during the workshop.
Django Girls will take place in the Central Library of The Hague.
The Central Library of The Hague is easily accessible by tram and bus. Lines 1, 6, 9, RR2, RR3, 15, 16, 22, 24 have stops that are at a 2-minute walking distance from the library.
If you are arriving by train to The Hague Central Station, you need to take the Rijnstraat exit. Walk onto Turfmarkt until you reach Spuiplein and the library will be on your right. It is a 5 minute walk.
If you are arriving by car on A12, take the exit to the Center. Turn left at the traffic lights and cross the Prins Bernhard viaduct. After the next traffic lights you will see the Town Hall parking on your right. From this parking you can take the elevator to the Town Hall's Atrium.
We couldn't be here without the support from amazing people and organizations who donated money, knowledge and time to help us make this a reality. If you want to contribute and support our goal, please get in touch: [email protected]
